Sonam Kapoor Wants Kites To Be Banned! Why?
(0 votes)
Friday, 12 March 2010

Actress Sonam Kapoor has urged Maharashtra Home Minister R.R. Patil to ban the manufacture of glass-coated strings (manja), used for flying kites, in the entire state as many birds die after getting entangled in them.

"I humbly request your support for the recent ban on 'manja' in Mumbai as well as your immediate action to extend the ban throughout Maharashtra, " she said in a letter to Patil.

"The use of 'manja' may be amusing for some, but for many families - human and bird alike - whose loved ones lose their lives, it is a situation that can be definitely prevented, " Sonam added.

She has made the request on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India after the Mumbai police banned the use of glass-coated 'manja' for flying kites within the city because of injuries and fatalities to both birds and humans.

The 'manja' used in kite-flying competitions is gummed and coated with powdered and finely crushed glass, making it lethal for birds who become entangled after the strings get caught in trees or on poles.

Starring : Anshuman Jha as Rahul, Shruti as Shruti, Rajkumar Yaadav as Adarsh, Neha Chauhan as Rashmi, Amit Sial as Prabaht, Arya Devdutta as Naina, Herry Tangdi as Loki Local

Produced by : ALT Entertainment, Priya Sreedharan, Puneet Kinra & Vikram Malhotra

Music By : Sneha Khanwalkar

Director: Dibakar Banerjee

The World We Live in & LSD (Love Sex aur Dhokha) :

Our world is driven by reality TV shows and voyeur cam clips on cell phones, the new media revolution caters to that largely suppressed hunger for 'discovering without being discovered' From sting operations to sex scandals to a seemingly innocent home video of a couple making love - Indian youth has seen it all.

BUT as a viral, without necessarily paying for it! A world that attaches a premium to making personal life public deliberately / accidentally / unintentionally?.Paparazzi/ Twitter/ CCTVs, LSD showcases the desire to know more about others and tells people that 'the only privacy left is inside their heads'.

The film takes into the heart of three contemporary, unusual and real tales of love stories- Love, Sex and Dhokha; unfolding across and weaving through each other..

The Film :

Love

In a film institute somewhere deep in the redneck hinterland of North India, a final year student gears up for his diploma film.

In pristine tackiness, with an amateur small town cast, Rahul starts etching out the perennial themes of Great Star Studded Backlit Bollywood Love in his magnum opus?

And then he falls in love with his heroine, Shruti.

Sex

Somewhere in the same city, Adarsh - the all knowing, tech savvy, never short of words, security camera agency exec - installs four security cameras in a small upcoming 24-hour departmental store franchise.

Always floating bizarre scam ideas to get rich, Adarsh hits upon the idea of making a porn clip through the security cameras in the shop.

He starts to woo Rashmi - the plain, pimply, dark and quiet salesgirl - almost disinterested in her? when suddenly, a shootout happens in the store! Rashmi hares around, totally in charge, and saves a life. For the first time, Adarsh notices a woman in Rashmi!

Dhokha

In another corner of the city, Prabhat - a misogynist sting journalist - teeters on the brink of total meltdown. Going through a divorce, about to be fired from his job, he attempts a series of failed suicides?

On one of them, he meets Naina who is also trying to commit suicide - she had been promised a music video by Loki Local, India's reigning Bhangra Hip Hop star? she slept with him for the same but the video finally went to a Russian blonde.

Prabhat can see the sting right in front of his eyes! Prabhat and Naina come closer over a series of attempts to seduce, blackmail, threaten Loki. They plan the final sting where Loki will be caught on tape trying to buy footage of his indiscretions...

Director

From the National Award Winning Director Dibakar Banerjee (Khosla Ka Ghosla and Oye Lucky Lucky Oye fame), LSD explores the human emotions of Love, Sex and Dhokha (Betrayal) through very candid points of views.

We want to know what's happening behind closed doors, or catch a celeb with his pants down. It's a streak that's spilling over in our relationships, in our entertainment and the news. Even our ideas on love or sex are not our own, but borrowed from what's seen on screen...

It was six years back when Dibakar wrote parts of the story, getting influenced from simple insights of real life.

The Filmfare award winning crew is back on LSD; writer Manu Rishi, music composer Sneha Khanwalkar who gave music to much loved & successful films such as 'Khosla ka Ghosla' & 'Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye'; costume designers Rushi & Manoshi have all added to the 'edginess' factor in the film.

Award winning international cinematographer Nikos Andritsakis would provide the visual appeal to the film.

Puppies Is In Shahid Kapoor's Paathshaala?

Friday, 12 March 2010

Who would've imagined that a one-minute scene with tiny, harmless puppies would require a whole day of hard work?

That's exactly what happened on the sets of Shahid Kapoor's 'Paathshaala', where a shoot for a 1 minute clip involving small kids and some puppies turned into a picnic of sorts for the cast and crew!

The scene involved a child actor who is playing with some puppies in the school premises, while Shahid and the other kids look on.

The crew assembled a few puppies, played with them for a while to get them familiar and even fed them well to get their attention. However, just as everything was ready and the Director all set to take the shot, the puppies would fall asleep, leaving the team in a lurch.

After a while, Shahid and the kids would again feed the dogs, play with them to get them into action, and just when they'd be ready for the shot, the puppies would run away, scattering in all directions!

This repeated a couple times, and it finally took a whole long day to get the desired shot. Meanwhile, Shahid and the kids had a field day, playing all the while with the cute puppies.

Talking about the incident, Director Milind Ukey said, ?It was a really funny situation we faced that day. We'd never imagined that such a small thing would require so much struggle! But in the end, everyone, especially the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was all worth it?

Presented by Eros International and Produced by Paperdoll Entertainment, Paathshaala hits theatres on 16th April.

Movie Review Of "Na Ghar Ke Na Ghat Ke"

Starring: Introducing Rahul Aggarwal, Narayani Shastri, Paresh Rawal, Ravi Kissen and Om Puri

Director: Rahul Aggarwal

Rating: **

Na Ghar Ke Na Ghat Ke narrates the tale of village simpleton Devaki Nandan Tripathi (Rahul) who comes to big bad Mumbai to try his luck.

A newly married Devaki and his wife (Narayani) end up facing lot of troubles in the city. Though he gets a job at a weather bureau, he is often the butt of jokes by those around him for his naivety and simplicity.

A big misunderstanding leads the couple to a police station where a corrupt police inspector (Paresh Rawal) tells Devaki to prove that the couple are husband and wife for real. What follows next forms the rest of the plot.

Debutante actor-director?s enthusiastic efforts go waste thanks to a lousy script.

The film could have been an okay one time watch had it not been for the extremely irritating last 20 minutes of the film that literally test your patience. The only scenes that work are the post interval sequences between Rahul and Paresh Rawal.

Rahul fits his part perfectly and his naivety aids his character. Narayani Shastri hardly gets any scope but does well. Ravi Kissen charms despite playing a loud character.

Two veterans who never fail to entertain ? Paresh Rawal and Om Puri, yet again impress big time. Neena Gupta and Ananth Mahadevan are just about okay, with Mahadevan being too loud.

Lalit Pandit?s music is not the variety you can recall once you are out of the cinema hall. The unwanted item song appears like added on at the last minute. Other technical departments are average.

NGKNGK is a kind of a film that could have appeared good on paper while planning but falls flat on its face as the humour in the last few reels not only goes too much over the top but also offers nothing new. Watch it at your own risk!
