Singer Lily Allen had plans to open a fancy dress shop before she settled for a vintage store.
The "Not Fair" singer, currently expecting her first child, recently opened a vintage clothing store with sister Sarah Owens, reports contactmusic.com.
"When I got pregnant, I decided to wind down a bit. So Sarah and I thought it would be a good moment to open the shop we'd been thinking of doing for years. Originally, it was going to be a fancy dress shop but because of our passion for vintage clothing, we thought this would work better," said Allen.
She says the decision to open a high-quality vintage store came after she saw many girls dressed like her.
"One of my 'light bulb' moments came when I went to a Christmas party and five people had the same high street dress on as I had. Plus the quality doesn't compare," she said

Pop star Lily Allen has revealed she's living in fear of miscarrying her baby with boyfriend Sam Cooper after losing her first child at the beginning of 2008.
The Smile singer admits her pregnancy has not been joyful so far - because she's haunted by her former baby tragedy. And she reveals her second pregnancy has been "really difficult".
Allen tells Britain's Sunday Times, "I came off the pill and, weirdly, a week later it happened. But then it was really difficult, I had complications.
Allen, the daughter of actor Keith Allen and screenwriter Alison Owen, explains, It's not that I didn't enjoy my childhood, because I did, but I suppose I was always quite fascinated by how a normal family would operate
"I had about a week and a half of really heavy bleeding and had to havelots of scans... I've been living in fear for the past three months".
But that hasn't put her off her motherhood dreams "I've probably been saying it since I was seven". The singer plans to retire from the music industry to concentrate on motherhood - and she's desperate to give her child the "normal" family upbringing she once craved.
Allen, the daughter of actor Keith Allen and screenwriter Alison Owen, explains, "It's not that I didn't enjoy my childhood, because I did, but I suppose I was always quite fascinated by how a normal family would operate.
"Everyone I knew when I was growing up came from divorced parents. I doremember when I had my first proper boyfriend at 16, going to his parents' house in Ireland and we all sat round had dinner together and I was really overwhelmed by the whole thing". Source: |

Courtney Love
Singers Lily Allen and Courtney Love continued their fight at an awards show in London last night. Lily reportedly left the ceremony in tears after a vicious row with the Hole singer. Courtney recently blasted Allen in a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, accusing the singer of blocking all other stars from wearing Chanel designs to the famed Brit Awards because of her exclusive deal with the brand. And the animosity continued when the couple met at the NME Awards in London, with Allen fleeing in tears after a ferocious war of words with Love, according to NME.com. A source told the website the singers were chatting amicably before the discussion "turned really nasty, really aggressive and b**chy". Editors at the website report the pair had to be pulled apart by their entourages, while Love called Allen a "little girl" and told her "Welcome to the music industry" before Allen shouted "Why the f**k did you say that to me?" and marched out. Love returned to her Twitter.com page the morning after the ceremony posting a series of messages which hint at her argument with Allen. She writes, "Pretty darn rich coming from someone who starts nonsensical fights with people out of insecure jealousy on a weekly basis. At least when I?ve started fights with people its because they f**k w (with) my kid or f**k w my $ (money)."No further comment, hatred is not my drink, I don?t like jealousy, vindictiveness, stalkers, selfishness and dishonesty, that?s just me!" The 'Not Fair' singer claims the popular programmes, which include Simon Cowell's flagship UK programme 'The X Factor', are nothing more than prolonged adverts to sell records.
She wrote on her twitter page: "It's a tv show. a vehicle created for pop acts to sell more records at a difficult time of year. Don't delude yourself. (sic)"

Lily has had a good week winning the British Female Solo Artist prize at the BRIT Awards on Tuesday night (16.02.10).
But some of her twitter followers are unhappy with her win and think Leona Lewis - who shot to fame after winning the 2006 series of 'The X Factor' - was a more deserving nominee. Source: |
